- Alexander Lukashenko has been elected President for the sixth consecutive time in the recently concluded presidential election in Belarus.
- He is the first and only president of Belarus since the establishment of the office 26 years ago, on 20 July 1994
- After the election results, widespread demonstrations have started in Belarus. Lukashenko is the absolute ruler of Belarus.
- Lukashenko received 80.23 percent of the vote, while his main opposition candidate Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya received just 9.9 percent of the vote..
- Supporters of rival Sviatlana are taking to the streets due to rigging in the election.
